Kevan Hurst backs Walsall to fire

Kevan Hurst today insisted Walsall can silence the doubters and believes the Saddlers still have their licence to thrill.

The Saddlers host Carlisle – who released Hurst in the summer – tomorrow and are looking to hit back following four defeats in five games.

The mixed start to the season has sparked fears of a lack of creativity within the squad, as they struggle to carve out clear-cut chances.

Three goals in their last five matches – two from set-pieces and Will Grigg's wonder volley – have been their only rewards as they fail to shine up front.

But Hurst insisted they don't have a creative issue.

He said: "Whatever the concerns are, I don't feel they're there. I've got confidence in myself and all the boys.

"As far as I'm concerned, there aren't any issues with creativity. We can score goals."

Claude Gnakpa is still out, despite returning to training after a hamstring problem, while on-loan David Martin returns after an ankle scare.
