Lee Beevers looks to add to Iron grief
Walsall defender Lee Beevers today insisted the Saddlers are ready to pile the misery on Scunthorpe and reignite their own season.
Walsall defender Lee Beevers today insisted the Saddlers are ready to pile the misery on Scunthorpe and reignite their own season.
The right-back reckons the team will end their three-game losing streak tomorrow and turn up the heat on Scunny.
The visitors are winless this season after relegation from the Championship and Beevers admitted the Iron will be at breaking point.
He said: "It could be like that, especially as they have come down. It could be a knock-on effect after a bad year and it will be playing on their mind.
"But Scunthorpe are a hard team, they came down last season and are in a similar boat to us – as in they are waiting for the season to start.
"We know we should have taken something from the last three games but we're still positive. We need to keep pushing and something is going to happen.
"It's only a matter of time before it slips into place."
Young Walsall striker Connor Deards has also joined Redditch on a month's loan.
The 18-year-old signed his first professional deal in the summer.
He said: "I'm looking forward to going there and getting some first-team games under my belt.
"It's something I need as part of my development. Playing matches is completely different to training."
