Walsall captain Andy Butler has told the Saddlers they must forget the sob stories to ensure they do not suffer a season of regret.

The skipper insists they cannot lose early ground on the top six and must hit back from successive defeats against Oldham at the Banks's Stadium tonight.

Butler has targeted the Latics after defeats to Brentford and Notts County hit the Saddlers' momentum.

Walsall are 14th in League One but Butler does not want any more hard luck stories.

He said: "Let's not make it a season of 'could haves and should have beens' let's make it 'we did do' and get ourselves up there which, as a squad, is where we think we should be.

"You want to be up with early pacesetters and, if you are points away early it gets harder."
