Walsall manager Dean Smith has challenged Alex Nicholls rediscover his best form and fulfil his potential.

The attacker has come in from the cold at the beginning of the campaign to start the Saddlers' last two games.

And his contribution has earned praise from the Saddlers boss – who now expects him to become a permanent fixture.

Smith said: "He needs to become a regular member of the first team. There's a footballer in there and my job is to get it out there and improve him.

"He needs to keep improving to remain in the team. When you play up top you are judged on goals and he knows, if he plays there, he needs to score more regularly."
