Walsall set to name head of youth

Walsall were today on the brink of appointing a new head of youth.

The club are expected to confirm the appointment by the end of the week after six months without a full-time youth boss, since Dean Smith stepped up to manager.

The Saddlers boss is involved in recruiting the successor for his old job and revealed it's a three-way race for the role.

Smith said: "I've got three outstanding candidates."
