Darryl Westlake today signalled his desire to become the 'right man' for the job at Walsall.
The right-back made 33 outings for the Saddlers last term as he helped them beat the League One drop by a point.
He has already set the team a target of the play-offs and has now revealed his personal ambition to become boss Dean Smith's first choice right-back.
He said: "I want to be playing regularly and I want to be in the squad and playing every week. I'm at that age where I need to start doing it.
"I've got the capability of becoming the first choice right-back and hopefully with the games I play I can improve."
