Matt Gill today told Walsall he would love to return to the Banks's Stadium as the race for his signature hots up.

The midfielder would relish the chance to play under Dean Smith again and admitted he owed the boss for reigniting his career.

Gill is one of the Saddlers' top targets after a successful loan spell last term but Exeter and Bristol Rovers are also in the hunt.

And, after being released by Norwich, Gill confirmed the Saddlers have made contact and he will decide on his future within two weeks.

He said: "I absolutely loved my time there and I'd love to play for the gaffer if things are right. I've got a decision to make.

"My agent has spoken to Dean and other clubs, a few in League One and another in League Two. That's where I'm at."
