Darryl Westlake eyes play-offs for Walsall

Darryl Westlake today fired out a warning to Walsall's League One rivals and targeted a shock play-off tilt.

The ambitious right-back believes the Saddlers can stun the division's big-boys and complete a stunning turnaround after last season's Great Escape.

They are already one of the favourites for the drop with bookies offering 15-8 they won't survive again.

But, after they beat the drop by a point on the final day, Westlake insisted Walsall can gatecrash the top six. "With more additions to the squad we can get into the play-offs," he said, despite odds of 66-1 for the Saddlers to win League One.

"Because of the position we were in last season people will take us lightly but they should be wary of us."
