The Banks's Stadium saga took another twist today after the Liberal Democrats called for talks between the leaders of Walsall Council, writes Nick Mashiter.
Leader Ian Shires is keen for the three major parties to meet and assess the options after a wave of public pressure for them to buy the ground.
The stadium is up for sale for £5m and the race to buy it is on, with one bid having already been lodged, although the local authority have already insisted they will not purchase the land.
The Liberals' move follows a Labour Party statement this week which urged the council, under a minority Conservative rule, to look at how they can help safeguard the club's future.
