Crocked skipper Darren Byfield today issued a Walsall rallying cry and roared "we will survive."

The striker, out with a long-term knee injury, is adamant the Saddlers will beat the drop, despite sitting bottom of League One, seven points adrift.

They host Oldham on Saturday, although the game is in doubt due to the weather, knowing they must win to start a revival.

Captain Byfield has backed his team-mates to turn their season around.

"It happens at lots of clubs. We need to put a few results together and we'll get out of the relegation zone — we'll stay up," said Byfield.

"It's what I believe, we're not going to be in trouble. We're not the worst team in the league, no chance."
