Walsall ace Matt Richards today insisted he prefers points over prizes as he reaches a personal milestone.

The midfielder was due to rack up his 300th career appearance at Torquay today after starting his career in the UEFA Cup with Ipswich in 2002.

But Richards knows helping the Saddlers off the bottom of League One takes priority over any personal celebrations.

"I'm proud of it but it's more about winning games, I'm focused on that, it doesn't matter how many games I've played," said Richards, who has made 66 appearances for the Saddlers. "It's about getting results for Walsall and working hard.

"I missed a couple of games last year through suspension but to play that amount of games is great and hopefully I can get hundreds more."
