Reuben Reid today admitted Walsall have run out of excuses and the players are to blame for their shocking form.

The Albion loanee conceded the Saddlers cannot justify their start to the season after just one win in the last 11 games.

They go to promotion hopefuls Huddersfield on Saturday desperate for a result which would lift the pressure on boss Chris Hutchings.

And four-goal top scorer Reid knows - with fans calling for the manager's head - the players cannot blame anyone but themselves.

"There's no excuses why a player can't come here and do well. We can't prepare any better," he said, with Walsall joint bottom of League One.

"Skip (Martin O'Connor) and the manager can't do any more. We know what the other teams are about, train well in the week but us players have to take responsibility.

"I've played in a few teams in my short career and there are some damn good players here. We can't put the start down to anything. It's just in the games a few basic things were going wrong."

The striker revealed his shock the Saddlers are almost bottom.

"I'm definitely surprised, there's experience and good players in the team," said the 22-year-old. "We haven't got the results, but with the ability we've got in the changing room we know we can turn it round."
