Walsall defender Manny Smith is predicting a major recovery now that the Saddlers have stopped the rot.
Four points from the last two games have arrested the slide to the foot of League One, which came on the back of six defeats in seven games.
Bottom club Tranmere are visitors this weekend and 21-year-old centre-back Smith is convinced the team will not waste the chance.
Smith said: "Everyone at the club knows what Chris and Martin O'Connor are capable of. We finished the highest Walsall had finished in six years last season and we've got great staff around us.
"We'll go on a run now. The boys know what position we're in and we've got enough to get us up the league.
"There aren't really many points from bottom to top and a couple of wins and we're away from the relegation zone.
"The spirit is there, we've got great staff around us and a great manager.
"That's our main aim, to get up as high as we can."
Smith had no complaints about the angry half-time verdict from the travelling Walsall fans at Dagenham on Saturday, but also urges them not to under-estimate the value of the point against the second-bottom outfit.
He said: "They know what we're capable of and it was a poor first-half performance.
"They hadn't travelled all the way to Dagenham to see that. We can understand why they were angry. After that we had a good half and showed what we could do.
"Points don't get paid out at half time, you have to work for the whole 90 minutes but we can't be good for one half and rubbish for the other.
"We were sloppy in the first-half but then came and showed character. I don't think many teams will get much from there this season.
"It's always a difficult place, you've got to show them respect and we know what sort of team they are, it's hard to play against a long ball team and we worked on it all week.
"Things hadn't been going our way but, when they do and we're higher in the table, no one will think about how badly we've started."
