On-loan striker Reuben Reid has revealed he is eyeing an extended stay at Walsall from Albion.

The Saddlers' four goal top scorer is on loan from the Hawthorns until January but wants to stay for the season.

Reid will lead the line at Dagenham and Redbridge tomorrow as the Saddlers aim to pull away from the League One drop zone and wants to strike a deal.

He said: "If it's in the interests of both parties, why not? I'm enjoying my football here and playing in someone's first team."

But Reid, who is in the last year of his Albion contract, remains hopeful he still has a long-term future at the Hawthorns.

He said: "In football, things can change in a matter of days and if I'm playing well and people like what they see, who knows?

"I've got to keep working hard in training to keep the shirt for as long as possible.

"They are a great bunch of lads and we were on a pretty poor run prior to the weekend but I've enjoyed every minute so far.

"I'm here until January at the moment and we have to get as many points as we can up until then."

But Reid, who is in the last year of his Albion contract after signing from Rotherham in 2009, insisted he could still have a future there despite his lack of action under boss Roberto Di Matteo.

He said: "You've got to look at it realistically, I'm coming here to get games and they are doing well at the moment.

"But football is funny, things can change in a matter of days and if I'm playing well, in form and people like what they see who knows?

"You never give up hope, I could go on a mad scoring run and be hot property again.

"Until that happens I have to concentrate on Walsall."

Albion have a year's option on his current deal as they impress in the Premier League and, although he hasn't made an impact, Reid has no regrets.

He said: "As a player all you want to do is play football, I got a good move there but things haven't worked out.

"But I wouldn't give it back for anything, I've no regrets as I've gone there and become a much better player.

"I can see things differently and just training with those guys was great, the ability they have is massive."
