Defiant Walsall manager Chris Hutchings today insisted he will not quit despite the Saddlers crashing to the bottom of League One.
They prop up the table after a wretched 1-0 defeat at home to Yeovil on Saturday left them winless in eight games in all competitions
But, with fans calling for his head and the club three points adrift of safety, under-fire Hutchings remained confident and will not walk away.
He said: "I will not shy away from it. I will meet it head on. The players have to do that and take responsibility as well as myself and that's what we'll be doing this week and trying to put it right on Saturday.
"Being bottom makes you even more determined and the lads have got to take that on board as well. It's not about me, it's about them in that dressing room.
"It has been a terrible run and it's a results business but in previous weeks we should have had points from five or six of the games.
"There's no getting away from it but we've got to do things quickly and turn it around. It's stats on the board and they hurt. They certainly hurt me and they've got to hurt the players.
"We've got to turn it around."
Hutchings, who has been in charge since January 2009, insisted he will not be swayed by unrest from the terraces.
He said: "You put yourself under pressure but everyone has an opinion on the game. There's always internationals watching the game and 22 wallies playing it.
"Things just don't seem to be falling for us and we're getting punished for every mistake we make."
An Adam Virgo winner 20 minutes from time sunk the Saddlers, who have earned just one point from the last 21, as they slumped to their sixth home defeat of the season.
Hutchings is now targeting signing a defender.
He added: "You would like more experience and it's something we're going to have to look at."
