Ryan McGivern today hailed Jonny Brain as one of the best goalkeepers in League One.
The stopper has come under fire after the Saddlers' wretched start to the season but kept his first clean sheet in the 0-0 draw at Leyton Orient on Tuesday.
And left-back McGivern insisted Brain deserves more credit than he is getting and will become a Saddlers star.
"In the games I've seen he's among the best, some of the saves he's pulled off in the first few games have been great," said the Manchester City loanee, who has played with top stoppers Joe Hart and Shay Given.
"He's pulled us out of holes many times already and I'm sure throughout the season he'll go onto improve on that.
"Jonny is a top goalkeeper, he's 27 so still quite a young goalkeeper.
"He talks to the back four a lot, he's the fifth man. He's part of the defence.
"He talks and communicates well and he's totally fine.
"He's been fantastic, he had a difficult game at Rochdale a few weeks ago but has proved he's over that and will only get better."
