Ryan McGivern on Walsall's debt

Walsall left-back Ryan McGivern has admitted the Saddlers' stars owe boss Chris Hutchings a win after their dismal start to the season.

The team go to Hartlepool tomorrow on the back of five straight defeats and in danger of falling into League One's relegation zone.

And Manchester City loanee McGivern told of how the squad desperately want a win for the boss and to give the club a boost.

He said: "The gaffer has given me the chance to come here and play but all the coaches, groundsman and kitman have been top class. But it's not just them and the players, the whole club needs three points to give everyone a little lift and get us back up the table.

"I don't think there's anyone to fear in the division and on our day we can beat anyone. If we weren't playing well and getting beaten then we'd be thinking, 'something's not right' but the last couple of games we've playing well.

"The results haven't gone right but we just need a bit of luck."

But McGivern conceded, with games against fellow strugglers Leyton Orient, Yeovil and Tranmere to come after the trip to Victoria Park, the coming weeks are crucial.

He said: "It's a huge month. In the next six games we should be going to win every game.

"There's no point thinking we can't."

McGivern is desperate to stop the rot, after admitting the run of defeats is making him angry.

He said: "On a Sunday there's always football on, you see the results and league table and it's rubbish.

"When you think about the performances we've been putting in the last couple of weeks and you see where we are in the table, it makes you angry.

"But it gives us an incentive to win tomorrow and get us back up the table.

"The last couple of games we've come away, the next day I've sat there and thought to myself 'how did we come away with no points?' but that's football you get used to it."
