Another Yeltz Trophy triumph

Halesowen Town came from behind to record a memorable FA Trophy upset at National League Premier outfit Maidenhead United.

The Yeltz – backed by 141 travelling fans – advanced through their second round replay 3-1 to set up a last-16 tie at Halifax Town on February 8.

Captain Paul McCone headed Halesowen level on the hour mark before Robert Evans smashed them in front from 25 yards five minutes later. And substitute McKauley Manning sealed the result with six minutes left to play.

Rushall Olympic lost their place in the Southern Central Premier play-off places to Coalville Town after going down 2-0 at their promotion rivals.

Meanwhile, Hednesford Town and Stourbridge closed the gap to the top five. An 86th-minute leveller denied the Pitmen victory at AFC Rushden & Diamonds after player-manager Danny Glover had fired them in front.

The Glassboys were comfortable 3-0 winners at Alvechurch thanks to strikes from Anthony Dwyer, Nathan Hayward and Alex Nicholls.

Chasetown were knocked out of the Walsall Senior Cup by a Saddlers XI on penalties after ending 90 minutes locked at 1-1.

Sporting Khalsa overcame Lye Town 3-1 in the same competition thanks to goals from Jack Till, Sean Williams and James McGrady, while Sam Coulson and Joe Berks fired Stafford Rangers past Brocton into the semi-finals of the Staffordshire Senior Cup.

Meanwhile, Kidderminster Harriers’ Richard Peniket is to take a break from football in a bid to recover from a succession of injuries and has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent.
