Chasetown bow out after FA Trophy tie

Chasetown bowed out of the FA Trophy with a 2-1 replay loss at Evesham United - despite taking the lead.

The Scholars went ahead after 20 minutes. Joe Halsall fed James Dance who in turn teed up Ryan Wynter to fire a superb shot beyond keeper Kevin Sawyer.

Jono Gould was denied by a defender's block from close range and when the loose ball squirmed back to Gould, Sawyer kicked clear the winger's rebound.

After the break, the home side were revitalised and levelled on 53 minutes. Lance Smith slipped the ball through to Adam Mann who fired beyond goalkeeper John Bateman.

The Robins took the lead after a defensive mix-up saw Mann tripped and a penalty awarded. As in the first staging of the tie, skipper Matt Sysum stepped up and sent Bateman the wrong way.

Chasetown threatened on the counter when substitute Garfield Robinson fired a whisker wide.
