Round-up: Hednesford Town go level at the top as Stourbridge's surge continues

Hednesford Town secured a third consecutive victory to significantly boost their Northern Premier League title hopes.

The Pitmen moved level on points with leaders Hebburn Town with a 2-0 victory over Guiseley at Keys Park.

Montel Gibson put Hednesford ahead after 20 minutes before Ahkeem Rose beat the goalkeeper to a loose pass back to fire into an empty net and claim his 12th league goal of the campaign.

The Pitmen held on for an important win to move level with title rivals Hebburn on 63 points. Hednesford also crucially have a game in hand on their north-east rivals.

"We are very satisfied with the result," said boss Kelvin Davis. 

"We feel we're in a good place, we're together, the group are enjoying their football, which is what we want.

"You always enjoy it when you are winning, and it is clean sheets that build success, so we are really pleased."

Elsewhere, Rushall Olympic were held to a 1-1 draw by survival rivals Prescot Cables. Jamie Willetts put the Pics ahead four minutes after the restart, but Sharif Deans levelled for the hosts in the 73rd minute.

It is Rushall's fourth draw in their last five matches. Ian Long's side sit four points clear of the relegation zone.

In the Southern Central Premier, Stourbridge's resurgence continued as they claimed a third win in a row with a dramatic victory at Bromsgrove Sporting. 

Nathan Hayward equalised in the 79th minute before Jack Newall netted in the dying moments to secure a crucial win that leaves the Glassboys seven points clear of danger.

Halesowen Town's play-off hopes suffered a dent as they let a two-goal lead slip at leaders Spalding United.

Jason Cowley and Ben Cassidy had put the Yeltz in front. However, Jack Roberts scored twice in the final 10 minutes of normal time to inflict a third defeat in four matches on Halesowen. The Yeltz now sit three points adrift of the play-off places.

National League North play-off hopefuls Kidderminster Harriers were held to a 1-1 draw by Chester.

In Northern Premier League Division One West, Darlaston Town suffered a sixth consecutive loss to fall seven points adrift of safety. Sporting Khalsa lost 3-1 at high-flying Avro, while fellow strugglers Stafford Rangers suffered back-to-back defeats with a 1-0 loss to Mossley, and Chasetown were beaten at Bootle.

In Northern Premier League Division One Midlands, Lichfield City claimed back-to-back wins with a 3-2 victory at Bourne Town.
