Jack Newall netted in successive games with a 74th-minute equaliser to earn another crucial point against Kettering, who are managed by former Stourbridge boss Liam McDonald.

The Glassboys remain 19th, two points adrift of safety in the Southern Premier Central, ahead of a crucial six-pointer at fellow strugglers Alvechurch on Tuesday night.

Scott Adey-Linforth said: "It was an ugly game, a difficult one and they had the better of the first-half where we gave away a goal after losing possession, but we came back well.

"Every point is vital now, whether we are playing Kettering, Alvechurch or Halesowen, we are in a dog fight at the bottom but have shown we have the stomach for the fight."

Stourbridge have lost just twice in their past 10 league games under Adey-Linforth. The Glassboys were seven points adrift of safety when he took the reins in mid-December, but that deficit has now been cut to two.

As they continue their revival on the pitch, there was also positive news off it. Vice-chairman Andy Bullingham revealed the club has received planning permission for vital works at the War Memorial Ground.

Two stands have been out of action this season due to safety concerns, with the ground situated close to a sandstone ridge. Bullingham said the works are subject to the signing of a 50-year lease on the ground, which he described as "close" to being agreed.

Adey Linforth added: "It is credit to the chairman and vice chairman who have worked hard on this and also gives the fans a boost because they have been magnificent in recent weeks."

Elsewhere, rivals Halesowen Town failed to secure a third consecutive win after a 1-0 defeat at Bishop's Stortford.

The Yeltz had scored 10 goals in their previous two victories but could not find a breakthrough in Hertfordshire. Russell Penn’s side remain a point adrift of the play-off places.

Kidderminster Harriers' Wembley dream is over after a gut-wrenching 6-5 penalty shootout defeat to National League side Wealdstone in the FA Trophy quarter-finals.

Harriers fell behind inside 13 minutes but responded midway through the first half through Ryley Reynolds. With the sides level at full time, the tie went to penalties, where Shay Spencer converted the decisive spot-kick after Owen Evans’ effort was saved.

It is Kidderminster’s best run in the competition since the 2009/10 season, when they reached the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, in Northern Premier League Division One West, Stafford Rangers were held to a goalless draw by fellow strugglers Sporting Khalsa, while Chasetown stopped the rot with a narrow late victory at Darlaston Town, who are four points from safety.

In Northern Premier League Division One Midlands, Lichfield City played out their third 0-0 draw in four matches at Long Eaton United. Ivor Green’s side are winless in five and now just seven points clear of the drop zone.
