"Marathon" mindset for Stourbridge in Southern Central Premier survival battle
Boss Scott Adey-Linforth stressed it’s a “marathon not a sprint” for Stourbridge in their quest for survival.
The Glassboys sit 20th in the Southern Central Premier, three points adrift of safety, ahead of hosting Real Bedford, who have won their last seven games, tomorrow.
Stourbridge have lost just twice since Adey-Linforth took the reins and he remains confident they can soon climb out of danger.
“The gap was seven points when we came in, we said it would be a marathon not a sprint,” he said.
“We are slowly chipping away at it. We were disappointed to not take three points at Stamford last weekend, but in the grand scheme of things it could be a big point.
“I don’t think we have been as good as we probably were when I first came in.
“We have picked up a few knocks, and we have gone through a difficult period playing some difficult teams.
“Overall I have been pleased, we have been hard to beat. But some of the games could have gone the other way if we had taken our chances.
“I would have preferred a win or two extra, but overall after our good start I am happy.
“The more points we can get early the better, but if it takes it to the end of the season we will be ready.
“Our place is a difficult place to go for teams. We will back ourselves against anybody, especially at home.
“Real Bedford are an excellent side, we have got to be really on it.”
