Stafford Rangers appoint John Macmillan as new chairman
John Macmillan has been appointed as the new chairman of Stafford Rangers.
The club stalwart has served in a range of roles at the club, including director, company secretary, and chairman of the club’s charity, Stafford Rangers in the Community.
In recent years, Macmillan has undertaken several walking challenges for the charity, raising funds to support youth initiatives.
He replaces John Hayne, who resigned after a year in the role earlier this month, with the club citing a need for a "culture change."
A club statement read: "John brings a wealth of experience and passion to the club. John has demonstrated strong leadership and a deep commitment to our local community.
"The board believes he is the right person to oversee the club’s new structure and exciting future as we welcome fresh faces in the boardroom and new investment."
Macmillan's appointment comes after the club has welcomed significant cash boosts from US-based investors George Bruneau and Nathan Owen.
Macmillan’s appointment follows significant financial backing from US-based investors George Bruneau and Nathan Owen.
The club said the board of directors "unanimously approved" the investment in January, adding that it will "eventually hugely benefit the football club."
The funds have been injected through shares rather than a loan, meaning there is no requirement for repayment or interest.
A new board structure is set to be revealed soon.
The club added: "We will be providing a full update of the new board structure shortly.
"As we embark on this new chapter, we encourage all our supporters to rally behind John’s appointment and get involved.
"At Stafford Rangers, we believe the club belongs to all of us. We are committed to fostering greater unity and breaking down any divides between the Board and our fans.
"Together, we will build a stronger future."
