Harry Flowers, the grandson of Wolves legend Ron Flowers, is back playing closer to home after joining Stafford Rangers from Warrington Town in December.

Raised in Brocton, near Stafford, the 29-year-old has spent much of his footballing career travelling the length of the country - journeys his famous grandfather was often willing to make to watch on.

"Over the years I have always seemed to play a long way from Stafford and he was always trekking up the M6 or coming across to Northern Ireland when I played over there," Harry recalled.

"It’s a real shame for me that he can’t come and watch me every week, but he is still someone that I think about regularly every single day, and I will continue to take on the different bits of info that he passed onto me over the years."

Ron Flowers passed away in 2021, aged 87, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy. He made 512 appearances for Wolves, scoring 37 goals, won three First Division titles and lifted the FA Cup in 1960.

He also earned 49 England caps, scoring 10 goals, netting England's first-ever goal at the European Championships, and later received a belated World Cup winner's medal and an MBE.
