Stafford Town will look to carry their strong festive form into the New Year when they lock horns with fellow play-off contenders Telford Town.

Stafford, who sit third in the North West Counties League Division One South, are unbeaten in their last three league matches and travel to fourth-placed Telford tomorrow.

Adam Wall's side are the league's second-highest scorers, with an impressive 50 goals from 19 games, while conceding just 23. And it is their defensive resilience that Wall believes has gone largely unnoticed.

He said: "The games we have played this festive period, we have picked up good results and we're plodding along. We need to go on a run, but we don't get beat very often still which is a great habit to have.

"It was a great Boxing Day win over Foley Meir. We didn't play particularly well, but when you do that and win, that's a positive sign.

"We've got such high standards of the group because of what has happened over the last 12 to 18 months. But, I think we forget sometimes that our defensive record is better than we give credit for.

"We have never struggled to score goals since I have been manager here. But, I think it does go under the radar a little bit that our defensive record is good."

There has been turbulence at Telford after boss Matthew Boswell quit to become the new manager of Shawbury United.

"If you don't look forward to the big ones like this, then what's the point," added Wall. "In typical fashion in football, the whole plan has been ripped up after their manager left.

"It is a little bit up in the air at Telford at the moment, we really don't know what we will face. We don't know as much as we would like to do, but we will plan for it."
