Kitching urges Stafford Rangers to find result 'quickly' amid concerns over form

Neil Kitching admits Stafford Rangers are now looking over their shoulders after a poor run of form and need a positive result "quickly".

The Rangers are winless in their last seven Northern One West matches and have conceded 19 goals during that run.

Kitching's side sit 16th in the table, four points clear of the relegation zone, and travel to Avro tomorrow looking to avoid a fifth consecutive defeat.

Asked whether his side are now concerned about the teams below them, Kitching said: "Absolutely, the fact we have not been on a decent run and that other teams are winning, then of course.

"It is always something that I am talking to the squad about. We are looking both ways in the table.

"It is only two or three weeks ago where we said if you can string two or three wins together then you can be in the play-offs. But similarly, if you lose two, three or four, like we have, then you are in and around the bottom six.

"We all know what is required and needed, and we need a result quickly to kickstart the season.

"I am quite sure when we do that, we will have a little bit of a run, and all of a sudden the table looks a lot better and confidence is a lot higher."

Rangers are battling an injury crisis with several players out, including three who were hospitalised during defeat to Atherton Collieries.

Kitching refused to use this as an excuse for their poor run, and is hopeful things can turn soon.

"We are a team a little bit low on confidence, coupled with the injuries, so we are having to change things a little bit more often than I would like," he added.

"When the chips are down and things are against you, it hurts you, but there were a lot of boxes ticked against Stalybridge Celtic last weekend.

"We hope that it is a building block and go searching for that result that would kickstart the season again."

Elsewhere, eighth-placed Chasetown welcome Witton Albion looking to extend their unbeaten run to seven league matches. Jamie Hawkins' side sit three points adrift of the play-offs.

Strugglers Darlaston Town host basement side Trafford looking to end a seven-game winless run, while 17th-placed Sporting Khalsa look for back to back wins at 18th-placed Congleton Town.

In the Northern One Midlands, fifth-placed Lichfield City visit Anstey Nomads looking to go unbeaten in five.
