‘It’s horrific’ - Kitching accepts blame and promises personnel changes as Rangers slide continues
Neil Kitching accepted responsibility after Stafford Rangers suffered another heavy defeat and insisted there will have to be “personnel changes.”
Rangers conceded four goals for the second match running as they went down to Northern One West play-off contenders Vauxhall Motors, slipping to 16th in the table and sitting just six points above the danger zone
Stafford are now winless in five league games, and Kitching’s side have shipped 14 goals across their last four outings.
Asked about that record, the Boro boss said: “It's horrific, we have got to change it, and change it quickly.
“Of course it is my responsibility, the players have to take some as well, we are asking them to do certain things and if it is not working then that is their responsibility, but then that falls back on me.
“We are not winning games, we have not performed correctly over the past few weeks. It is nowhere near good enough for us to win games of football.
“We have got to strive to do that, and that is my responsibility. It hasn’t happened. There will be changes, it has to be personnel changes.”
Stafford have managed only three wins from 10 home league matches this season. They made a bright start, taking the lead inside two minutes when Callum Wilson fired home.
However, their advantage lasted just four minutes as Vauxhall’s Finlay Heath scored directly from a corner. Conor Harwood then put the visitors ahead shortly after the half-hour mark, before Rangers failed to deal with another deep corner that ricocheted into the net.
Kyle Sambor added an all-too-easy fourth for Vauxhall late on, although Tomasi Wara pulled one back for Stafford in the closing stages.
Kitching added: “I am disappointed again, annoyed that we have come up with that again when we showed at Clitheroe that it wasn't good enough defensively.
“We have worked with the players to make sure we are stronger in our box and it hasn’t happened.”
