The Badgers sit ninth and will look to make it four league wins in a row when they host 1874 Northwich tomorrow.

Curtis’ side have been hampered by injuries to key players including Christian Blanchette, William Whieldon and Reg Smith. But after a stuttering start to the campaign, the Badgers boss is confident they can maintain their upturn.

“We had a slow start,” he admitted. “We are missing Christian, Will and Reg, which is 75 goals from last season.

“Winning three on the spin had put us in a much better place. We are starting to get a little bit of consistency in the back four and midfield, and I am hoping we can start pushing up the league.

“The lads are more than good enough to do so, we have to just make sure that week in week out, we are at the level that we have been in the past few weeks.

“There has been something that has turned, and I know the lads have found it tough, we have had some unlucky results, but also poor ones.

“But, we are not in a bad place. If we can put another couple of wins together we will be in the mix again.”

The Badgers were knocked out of the Staffordshire Senior Cup by Rushall Olympic midweek, beaten 2-0 at Silkmore Lane. But Curtis admitted it was not the worst outcome.

He added: “Realistically we were not going to win the competition. It is not the worst thing in the world. I thought we put a good account of ourselves.”
