'We can definitely take the fight to teams' - New boss Jack Jeys confident Wolves Sporting can turn season around

New Wolves Sporting boss Jack Jeys is “very confident” that his side has what it takes to turn around their torrid start to the season.

Sporting sit bottom of the North West Counties League Division One South with just one win from 14 games, having shipped 54 goals.

However, after two weeks in the job, Jeys has already seen positive signs, and guided his side to a 2-2 draw against high-flyers Eccleshall, where Wolves missed a late penalty that could have sealed victory, before they suffered a gutting penalty shoot-out defeat to Barnton in the Edward Case Cup midweek.

“In the last two seasons, the club has underachieved,” Jeys said. “So when I had chats about the project and ambition, it was a no brainer.

“Coming into any management job is difficult, especially one where the team is bottom with a minus 40 goal difference.

“The main goal is to build a team that is hard to beat, get the attitude right and get out of relegation.

“With the lads that I have brought in, we have some great individual talent. I have had to clear out around 16 to 18 players and bring in a whole new squad.

“But, in the past two games it has shown that things are clicking and working. We are competing and we can definitely take the fight to teams.

“I am very confident that it isn’t going to take long until the first win comes and the hard work pays off.”
