Adam Murray says Kidderminster Harriers have had a "level out" in their mindset during what he describes as a "season of change" at the club.

After a rocky spell, Harriers visit Alfreton Town this weekend looking to secure a third successive National League North victory, and to go four unbeaten.

Murray’s side have won their past two matches 1-0, and while they have scored the fewest goals of any side in the top seven, they have been solid defensively, keeping five clean sheets so far.

Despite sitting nine points adrift of leaders South Shields, Murray insists there is still plenty of football to be played.

He said: “We have got 30 odd games to play, we have not even started. We have had a bit of a level out in our mindset of where we are and what our ambition is this season.

“Every season, every team, coach and player goes into the league and you want to be champion, that is everyone’s goal. But, when things level out and you see how the ground is falling, you need to find your feet on that and understand where you are.

“I think we are at that point where we understand this is what the league looks like, and what we have done well and haven’t.

“We are focused on where we need to get better to get us further up the league in our promotion charge.

“But, the goal hasn’t changed, the goal that we set out at the start of the season was top seven, and our aim is to then get promoted through that.

“If that was to come as a champion, it would be amazing, if it was through the play-offs then that’s the target. Nothing has changed.”

“It is a case of there is going to be ups and downs, especially in a changing season for us, this is a season of change. There are a lot of things off the pitch that are moving around and we have to stay competitive within that.

“We knew it would be tough, we had the conversations.

“We knew there would be a lot of challenges and that will be the case throughout the season, but we have to make sure that we are doing what we are and keep picking up points to stay in the mix.”
