Tividale produced possibly their grittiest 45 minutes of the season to pick up a point in a 1-1 draw at Rugby Town.

Rugby deservedly took the lead when a Kevin Thornton free-kick was headed down by skipper Steve Towers.

David Kolodnyski produced a class bicycle kick to fire home through goalkeeper Tom Turner's legs.

On 33 minutes, Rob Parker was inches away from doubling the advantage but his effort came back off the post.

Things got worse for Tividale four minutes later when Lewis Wright was dismissed for bringing down Kolodnyski.

While there was no argument with the foul, a red card for denying a goalscoring opportunity seemed harsh.

After being a virtual spectator in the first half, home goalkeeper Sam Andrews was picking the ball out of his net within a minute of the restart.

A Rugby clearance fell to Mark Danks on the edge of the box and he fired home. The hosts laid siege to the Tividale goal, but Turner was in inspired form.
