Four-goal Dani Selmes stars as Wolves' women clinch victory
Wolves continued their recent good form with an emphatic win in the Birmingham County Cup over Studley.
Four-goal Dani Selmes began the rout by heading in after just eight minutes.
Amber Quick burst down the left before squaring for Selmes to double her tally on 13 minutes, before Jamilla Palmer rifled in from the edge of the box to make it 3-0.
Minutes later Palmer turned provider, crossing for Selmes to complete her hat-trick as Wolves showed their class. Jordan Timmins-Ray made it five on the half-hour mark, racing clear of the defence before slotting past the keeper.
The second half saw Wolves continue to press for goals on a boggy pitch, persisting with their short passing game and reaping the rewards.
Selmes got her fourth goal from the penalty spot after being fouled in the box. Dominique Luke made it seven from 25 yards before Laura McQuilkin added another with a fine effort from distance.
Youngster Vicky Palin scored her first senior goal from close range to make it 9-0 before a bullet header from Timmins-Ray added to Wolves' tally.
Luke completed the rout on 76 minutes as Wolves eased into the quarter-finals.
Another positive for Wolves was the return of Becky Hall after a long injury lay-off, playing the last 20 minutes in centre-midfield.
Manager Trevor Mullings was pleased with the professionalism of his side. He said: "It was an excellent performance and the scoreline reflects the hard work we put in.
"We scored some great goals and kept possession well. I hope we can carry our form into the New Year."
