Barry Bannan stars for Scotland

Villa's pint-sized star Barry Bannan has been marked out as a potential star after a Man of the Match debut for Scotland in their win over the Faroe Islands.

The 5ft 5ins midfielder, who has made just three Premier League starts for Villa, hit the post before setting up Jamie Mackie to score the second goal, as the Scots ran out 3-0 winners last in a commanding performance at Aberdeen's Pittodrie Stadium.

National coach Craig Levein said: "If Barry keeps playing the way he is it's something to live up to.

"I don't want to put pressure on the lad because he's just a wee boy.

"If he plays 50 to 75 games in the Premier League and wins 10 caps with us, then we might have reason to believe we have an accomplished player."
