Aston Villa team news: Nine changes for Carabao Cup tie
Villa are looking to reach the quarter-finals for the first time under Unai Emery.
Summer signing Leon Goretzka has been handed his full Villa debut in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie at Bournemouth.
The Germany international midfielder is one of nine players brought into the line-up by boss Unai Emery for the fourth round clash.
Goretzka joined Villa on a free transfer after eight years with Bayern Munich.
The 31-year-old endured a frustrating first few weeks at the club after suffering a knee injury but has come off the bench in the past four matches and now gets his chance from the start.
Teenage striker Brian Madjo is also in a starting XI for the first time since August’s European Super Cup, while Taylor Harwood-Bellis makes his second Villa appearance since a summer move from Southampton.
Ian Maatsen and Joao Gomes are the only players to remain in the team from the one which started the 2-1 win against City.
Villa are aiming to reach the last-eight of the competition for the first time in Emery’s reign.
