Aston Villa 1 West Ham 1: Matt Maher's player ratings

Matt Maher rates the Villa players after their draw with West Ham.

Published

Emi Martinez

Another home match without a clean sheet. Will have been relieved to see the flag go up when Paqueta thought he had won it at the end after fumbling the shot.

Beaten 6

Matty Cash

Lively in attack during the first half when Villa pushed forward at will. Involved in a moment of confusion with Martinez but had three men to mark for the goal.

Outnumbered 6

Ezri Konsa

An excellent performance from a player who now finds himself holding the Villa defence together. Always in the right place at the right time.

Towering 8

Tyrone Mings

After such a long time out you can only keep your fingers crossed this latest knee injury is not too serious. Looked devastated.

Cruel N/A

Lucas Digne

Did about as well as he could after being forced to play centre-back for the majority of the match. Not his fault Villa find themselves short.

Determined 7

Youri Tielemans

Some excellent moments and some less so. Came close to finding the killer pass on several occasions but this was a nearly day for Villa.

Moments 6

Boubacar Kamara

Almost a surprise he wasn’t the man sent back into defence when Mings was injured. Could be the case against Celtic. A solid display.

Solid 6

Leon Bailey

A frustrating afternoon in what has been a frustrating season. Found himself in many good positions but could not make it count.

Frustrating 5

Morgan Rogers

Another player who didn’t make the most of the space he was provided in the first half. Final ball was a disappointment, not for the first time.

Disappointing 5

Jacob Ramsey

Started the game superbly and came close to scoring before finally getting off the mark in the Premier League. Faded as the game went on.

Goal 7

Ollie Watkins

A really good performance which saw his 100th Premier League goal involvement in his 200th Villa appearance. But also a good chance missed.

Assist 7
