Aston Villa blog: Here we go again in the Second City Derby

Well here we go again, the much anticipated Second City Derby and this time we have the 'pleasure' of making the trip to St Andrews.

While there are the obvious bragging rights at stake, once again I feel that we have far more riding on the game than they do, writes Justin Hawthorne.

Our financial figures have been released this week and after spending a long time (with a lot of help from my Twitter Villa friends) I’ve been trying to understand just what kind of position we actually find ourselves in. One thing I do know is whatever the future holds for us, everything would look a whole lot better if we got promoted.

So we are back to the question of the moment, can we still make the playoffs?

Well, things look a lot better after the demolition of Derby last weekend but that all goes out the window when we face our rivals from across the city.

I have my positive head on though and I’m predicting a Villa win, and quite frankly I don’t care how we do it.

With two tough away games approaching, if we can get maximum points from both then I feel we are still in with a chance.

The problem we have now is that there is no room for error, so here’s hoping we can extend our great record against Blues and we can carry the fight on for at least another week!
