James Chester: Bad times built Aston Villa team spirit

Captain James Chester claims he was always confident Villa would turn round their form after revealing how the bad times helped bring players together.

Resurgent Villa resume their Championship campaign at home to Norwich City tomorrow aiming to record a sixth win in seven games. The run has followed an eight-game winless streak which saw Steve Bruce's team plummet down the table and all but end hopes of making the play-offs.

A busy January window meanwhile saw eight new players arrive and Chester now claims the rotten run of form did at least have the effect of strengthening the bond in the new-look team.

"As daft as it sounds, when you go through the dark times you help each other out even more," said the skipper.

Meanwhile, FIFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against Villa full-back Neil Taylor following the Wales international's challenge Seamus Coleman that broke the Ireland man's leg last Friday.
