Aston Villa's Jonathan Kodjia aims to shoot down struggling Latics
Top scorer Jonathan Kodjia is targeting more goals as Villa look to pile the misery on managerless Wigan this weekend.
The Latics, four points adrift of safety, yesterday axed boss Warren Joyce after just four months at the helm.
Interim boss Graham Barrow will now take charge when Villa visit the DW Stadium on Saturday aiming to record their fifth win in six games. Kodjia has netted four times during the recent good run and has no intentions of taking his foot off the gas.
He said: "We need a win. The game is very important for the team and we'll be going to Wigan for the win."
The Ivory Coast international has netted 15 goals in 29 games since joining in a deal worth £15million from Bristol City last summer and needs just five more to become the first Villa player since Peter Withe to hit 20 in a league campaign.
"The team is happy and I am happy," he said. "I have scored goals and that's nice for me and the team. It is a good moment for us.
"I need to score all the time for the team. That is my job."
Wigan have won just two of their last 11 and Joyce was dismissed having taken charge of only 24 games.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has meanwhile been charged by the FA with improper conduct following his sending-off at Villa Park on Saturday.
The 51-year-old was sent to the stands after protesting the straight red card shown to Vincent Sasso for a studs-up challenge on Villa's Conor Hourihane.
