Ross McCormack missed training with Aston Villa 'because his gates were stuck'
Ross McCormack missed training at Villa after claiming the gates to his home were stuck, boss Steve Bruce has revealed.
Bruce made the extraordinary claim following Villa's 2-2 draw with Preston on Saturday, as he laid into the £12million striker's attitude and lack of fitness.
McCormack, who has scored just three goals since a big money move from Fulham last summer, is facing disciplinary action for "continually" missing training and was left out of Villa's squad, with the manager accusing him of being "nowhere near" fit enough to play.
When asked what reasons the Scotland international had given for missing training, Bruce replied: "The gates were stuck".
Reports later on Saturday evening have since claimed Bruce visited the striker's home to photograph the gates and prove he could have made training.
