Nathan Baker believes Jonathan Kodjia can fire Aston Villa forward
Nathan Baker reckons Villa "talisman" Jonathan Kodjia has the potential to fire the club back into the Premier League.
The 27-year-old striker has scored eight goals in 17 games since joining from Bristol City last summer for a fee which could eventually rise to £15million.
Kodjia bagged the only goal as Villa won 1-0 at QPR on Sunday, earning the plaudits from centre-back Baker.
"Jonathan has been superb for us ever since he arrived in the summer," said Baker. "I saw instantly in training that we had a top-class striker on our hands.
"He's always on it – he works hard, he never gives less than 100 per cent every day, he has real intensity in every session and he just loves scoring goals.
"He obviously works hard at his game but he has also clearly been born with that natural ability in front of goal. If he gets a sniff of a chance, he generally scores.
"His attitude is infectious too. He's always smiling and brings a positive attitude to the training ground. He's been a great addition for so many reasons."
Villa have meanwhile had no contact from Inter Milan despite reports linking the Italian club with a January move for goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.
The 21-year-old, who was signed from Hellas Verona last summer, was dropped in favour of Mark Bunn for last weekend's game at Loftus Road.
