Aston Villa flops given harsh wake-up call by Tony Xia
Tony Xia has delivered a stark 'wake-up' call to Villa players as manager Steve Bruce insisted he is ready to ring the changes after a dismal showing at Norwich.
Xia said on social media that he was 'disappointed and really mad' after Villa went down 1-0 at Carrow Road on Tuesday night.
Steve Bruce has described the performance as 'easily the worst' during his time in charge of the club and Xia told fans on Twitter: "Really mad with someone not showing up and fighting after I watched video again. Far from being professionals!"
He added: "Disappointed and mad as every fan. Not the end of the world but need many lads WAKE UP asap. Let's see the team bounce back Sunday!"
His call comes as Bruce said he was ready to wield the axe on any under-performing players.
The boss said: "I can accept getting beat, what I can't accept is players not putting their boots on, not turning up."
And he added: "Having seen that I can see why the club decided to make a change and bring me in.
"It's my responsibility to ensure there is no repeat of that performance.
"There are quite a few players who have travelled up and down the country without getting their chance since I have been here, but that is going to change now.
"There will be changes to the side on Sunday, I can assure you of that."
