Steve Bruce: Still so much to play for at Aston Villa
Steve Bruce rued the loss of his unbeaten record as Villa boss but insisted there are more than enough points to play for to mount a promotion challenge.
The claret and blues dominated long periods of the game at Leeds but came away empty handed due, in the main, to a goalkeeping error which saw Pierluigi Gollini too slow coming for the cross which allowed Albion old-boy Kemar Roofe power a header into an empty net at Elland Road.
As Villa chased the game, another ex-Baggies player Chris Wood doubled the lead to kill off the game.
And Bruce said: "We've had a great start but we're going to get beaten, that's the nature of the Championship.
"It's not all about the silkiest football but it's who makes the least mistakes and, in a big game, we've made a crucial one which gives the impetus to Leeds." But he added: "There's still a really long way to go... In a few weeks' time we'll be halfway through the season, there's still a lot to play for."
