Aston Villa defender Nathan Baker major doubt for Leeds United clash

Villa could be forced into a defensive reshuffle after manager Steve Bruce confirmed Nathan Baker is a major doubt for tomorrow's game at Leeds.

Baker was forced out of last weekend's 3-1 win against Cardiff City with a groin injury and Bruce admitted the centre-back may not be recovered in time for the clash at Elland Road.

Skipper Tommy Elphick is therefore poised to return to the team alongside James Chester at the back. The 29-year-old has not started a game since suffering a calf injury in the 1-1 draw with Wolves in October, Bruce's first match in charge.

Ross McCormack is meanwhile set to miss out on facing his former club. The striker has made steady progress in recovering from an ankle injury, though Bruce believes tomorrow's game will likely come too soon.

"Ross is struggling and it might be a bit too early for him," said Bruce. "Baker is struggling. Everyone else, thankfully, is OK."
