Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce left frustrated with draw
Steve Bruce was frustrated with a draw after describing Aston Villa's second-half performance at Brighton last night as the best of his short tenure.
Villa picked up a useful point against Chris Hughton's high-flying side courtesy of Nathan Baker's first-half header.
Glenn Murray equalised for the hosts just before half-time but Villa had several chances to bag a winner after the break.
"It was never going to be easy but it's the best we've played second half," said boss Bruce.
"We are a bit disappointed that we didn't see it out to half-time.
"But the way we responded the second half I can only congratulate them (the players) on a really good performance.
"With a little bit more luck we could have gone away with all three points.
"They have bought into what we are trying to do. We work on the shape and organisation and, with the flair players we've got, we're always likely to score a goal. At the moment it's going OK."
Bruce confirmed a deal had been done with Brighton for Colin Calderwood to become his assistant at Villa Park.
"It was important we got the right one and he's a man of vast experience," added Bruce.
"He's a really good football man and he's done a wonderful job at previous clubs. I'm glad it's been done."
