Aston Villa blog: What a difference a week makes

I could get used to this winning feeling, two in a week and seven points from nine - Brucie will have a statue built at this rate...writes Aston Villa blogger Justin Hawthorne.

Joking apart, what a transformation! I think we all knew that the squad we assembled in the summer wasn't finishing in the bottom half, but unless you do it on the pitch then no one will care what you have on paper.

The togetherness and willingness to run into the ground has really been evident on the last two wins.

In Kodja, we really have a top player in the Championship. His goal was sublime and it was no fluke as some of the goals he has scored for club and county this season would testify to.

We are only seven points off the top six and the longer this form continues, I wouldn't rule out going for automatic promotion.

Bruce said, "it's the biggest club I've ever managed," I'm sure that will fire up those down the road for next Sunday's game, but in this form, I can't wait for it!

The new era that hopefully is now beginning really feels like something positive if finally about to happen at Villa Park.

While I won't get too carried away at the moment, as we all know things change very quickly in football, I do sense the tide is finally turning in our favour and winning hopefully will start becoming a habit.

I do hope that Jack Grealish has watched the last two games very closely and is hungry to get involved with a good winning Villa side.

I don't think that Bruce will pander to him, it's shape up or ship out now I'm afraid.

And we have already proved more that capable of winning without him... have a great week Villa fans, you deserve it!
