Steve Bruce hails players after dream start to Aston Villa reign
Boss Steve Bruce expressed his delight for Villa's players as the dream start to his reign continued with victory over Fulham.
The 1-0 win at Villa Park, which came courtesy of Jonathan Kodjia's third goal in a week, means Bruce has picked up seven points from three games since replacing Roberto Di Matteo in the managerial hotseat earlier this month.
It was also the first time Villa have recorded back-to-back wins since May 2015.
And Bruce said: "It's a decent start, that's all it is. I'm delighted for the players because a week ago they were quiet and there's been huge changes right the way through, from the squad to the chief executive to the sporting director.
"The one thing you want to do then is get off to a good start and they didn't.
"So that puts a little bit of pressure on everyone. We've just tried to breathe a bit of life back into everyone and a couple of results does no harm."
Kodjia's winner, ten minutes from time, came after substitute Albert Adomah pounced on a loose pass from Fulham keeper David Button, providing some late drama to an often tepid game.
Bruce revealed Adomah had played through the pain after an ankle injury sustained in Tuesday's 2-1 win at Reading limited him to a place on the bench.
The manager said: "To be fair to Albert, I didn't think he had a chance of playing after Tuesday, but he's played with the ankle.
"He produced a great ball for Kodjia and that's the bit of quality you need.
"He (Kodjia has got three in a week) got three in a week and it was a wonderful finish. There's still a lot to do and the finish is tremendous."
