Aston Villa to discover Jack Grealish punishment following alleged stamp

Villa's Jack Grealish is facing the prospect of a three-match ban with the FA set to take retrospective action for an alleged stamp on Wolves midfielder Conor Coady.

The incident during the first half of Saturdays's 1-1 draw was missed by referee David Coote but the FA have since reviewed video evidence. It is understood Grealish has been told he will be hit with a misconduct charge, with an official announcement expected today.

Grealish, who will have the right to appeal, is now likely to miss three games including the derby at Blues later this month, though last night it remained unclear whether he would be available for tonight's match at Reading.

It is the latest controversy to hit the Birmingham-born attacker, who was suspended for one game and fined by Villa last month after claims he had attended a raucous party at a city hotel.

His likely absence will further limit the options for boss Steve Bruce, who is expected to ring the changes this evening as Villa look to end their away day despair at the Madjeski Stadium.

Captain Tommy Elphick and defender Micah Richards are almost certain to miss out after both picked up injuries against Wolves, with further changes expected as Bruce seeks to find the right balance still less than a week on from taking the reins.
