Tony Xia calls for calm as Aston Villa adapt to league
Tony Xia has called for calm following Villa's difficult start to life in the Championship.
The Villans' owner posted on social media another tough weekend for his new club, during which they recorded their third consecutive draw to sit 18th in the table. But with Roberto Di Matteo already under pressure from some sections of the Villa Park faithful, Xia has asked for positivity.
He wrote: "We need more to stand together and calm down to solve all the problems before the dawn is coming."
Meanwhile, left-back Jordan Amavi is confident Villa can soon embark on a winning run.
The Frenchman – who missed most of last season with a serious knee injury – said: "We've kept a clean sheet now and defended strongly – and we have scored goals regularly in other games. I am confident we will mix those two elements together. I think the win is just around the corner.
"On a personal level, I'm very happy I was given the opportunity to start.
"It's a good thing for me after such a long time out. It's good to play as all football players want to play games. I'm very pleased, proud and happy to be at this club."
