Aston Villa's Jordan Ayew will treat Luton tie with respect

Jordan Ayew has warned Villa must take nothing for granted in tomorrow's League Cup clash at Luton Town.

Roberto Di Matteo's side will be big favourites to win the first round tie at Kenilworth Road.

But Ayew insists their League Two hosts must be treated with respect as Villa look to avoid being on the wrong end of a cup shock.

"We know we're the favourites and they're the underdogs," he said. "It's important to be wary of their threat, they'll be really up for the game.

"A good run in the cup is our main aim. Winning brings confidence and will only help us going into our next two home games against Rotherham and Huddersfield Town."

Villa's owner Tony Xia has meanwhile reiterated his stance that Ayew will not be sold this summer. The Ghana international has been linked with a host of clubs, including West Ham and Albion, yet both Xia and manager Di Matteo have always insisted he will remain at Villa Park.
