The 26-year-old has signed a five-year deal at St. James' Park and is expected to be an integral part to Rafa Benitez's plans.

"Newcastle is a massive club so I'm really happy to be here," said Clark.

"Importantly, it is a club that is moving in the right direction and pushing for the right things, so I'm really excited to now be a part of that.

"Things seem to have progressed really quickly over the last few days but I'm delighted to have got it all done and be a part of this squad."

Meanwhile Ross McCormack will have a medical today at Villa Park ahead of a move believed to be in the region of £12 million.

Boss Roberto Di Matteo is desperate to give his squad more firepower and has firmed up his interest in the Scotland international, a long-term target.

Norwich had looked firm favourites to sign McCormack, but have been unable to agree a fee and Villa now look to have hijacked the move with Fulham willing to sell.
